Confidence is Attractive

No matter how confident we are, there will always be times when our self-esteem takes a hit. When we’re feeling down, it can be hard to remember all the things that make us great. Whether facing a significant life change or struggling with self-esteem, it’s normal to have moments (or days or weeks) when you feel less confident. But just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it’s fun—or you must put up with it. That’s why you must know how important it is to maintain your confidence. 

The first is to dress for success.

This one is simple but effective. When you look good, you feel good. So take the time to pick out an outfit that makes you feel like a million bucks, whether it’s your favorite power suit or a pair of skinny jeans and a cute top. Also, put some products that make you feel fabulous, even if you stay home for the day, such as moisturizer, a scented shampoo, or sunscreen. You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it makes in your attitude.

You must second consider what you feed your brain or thoughts.

You may have heard the famous phrase “you are what you eat,” but an equally important idea to consider is “you are what you consume.” You must look closely at the information that you feed your brain.

Are you reading books?

What shows are you watching?

What type of music or podcast are you listening to?

What kind of people are you hanging out with?

Feed it too much negativity, and it can become your reality. The same thing also to what thoughts and emotions you are taking in. What are the thoughts you have all the time? You should ask yourself, “Am I down on myself all the time”?, or “Do I focus on the negative”? You might constantly be beating yourself up for not getting enough done. It is crucial to have control over your thoughts, and it’s essential to be aware of the type of thoughts and ideas you allow yourself to be exposed to because they will inevitably shape your perspective and values. 

Another way to maintain your confidence is by surrounding yourself with positive people.

When you’re around people who are supportive and encouraging, it helps you feel good about yourself and your abilities. On the other hand, if you’re constantly around people who are negative and bring you down, it will be difficult for you to maintain a high level of confidence.

So one thing you can do is to control your social media, especially if it will make you compare yourself with those ‘picture-perfect’ individuals and makes you feel bad about yourself. Remove people from your life who are not building you up, not making you feel good, and not increasing your confidence. It doesn’t matter if it’s family, friends, or coworkers; disassociate yourself from people who will make you feel less about yourself. 

And lastly, one of the best ways to maintain your confidence is acknowledging your accomplishments.

We often focus on where we need to go next rather than what we’ve accomplished already. We are constantly bombarded with people telling us we must do more, be more, and achieve more. It’s no wonder that so many of us struggle with confidence. So list everything you’ve achieved, big or small, and acknowledge them. This is beneficial because it allows you to recognize how far you have come, how much effort you put in, and appreciate everything that you have gone through to get where you are. Taking the time to celebrate your successes helps you feel good about yourself and builds your self-esteem.  

People want to be around confident people. After all, people want to be around those who are confident and sure of what they can do. For this reason, it’s essential to take ownership of your confidence and ensure you feel good about yourself without relying on someone else to do it for you.

But keep in mind that confidence doesn’t mean being arrogant. Maintaining your confidence isn’t about creating a sense of superiority or belittling other people. It means accepting yourself and believing in yourself. It’s the ability to trust and own your decisions and feelings with humility.
